The Orchard

The Orchard is designed to meet the individual needs of a small group of sensory learners, providing morning support in a calm, structured environment.

Our Orchard curriculum removes barriers to learning and places no limits on achievement. It offers learners with sensory and additional needs the opportunity to thrive within a small, SENCO-led setting, following a carefully personalised curriculum.

The Orchard SEN Curriculum is informed by Birth to 5 Matters and encompasses the following areas of learning:

Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Expressive Arts and Design
Understanding the World

From this foundation, children progress towards the Early Learning Goals and then transition to the KS1 Woodlands Curriculum.

All learners in The Orchard have a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are assessed using the Individual Assessment of Early Learning and Development (IAELD). These assessments inform us of the range each pupil is working on.
